How did growing up in Australia fuel you physically?
I was very active from a young age and played all different types of team sports. I think that the Australian people are quite athletic in general, and I was surrounded by family and friends who always stressed the importance of health and wellness.
What activity do you find works best for you?
I like to have a lot of variety in my exercise routine. I try to run, spin, hike and
strength train regularly. I get bored quite easily.
You have a black belt in taekwondo. What attracted you to martial arts?
I originally started attending martial arts classes to keep my little brother company.
My parents thought it was important for him to learn self-defense and I offered to go along. I ended up falling in love with it and became very competitive.
Have you done any physical activity lately that’s taken you out of
your comfort zone?
I participated in my first triathlon recently. I was very inexperienced on the road bike and was pretty terrified. I’d also never practiced the three different legs one after the other, so wasn’t sure if my body would hold up. I was so proud of myself after finishing.
What’s your non-negotiable indulgence?
Chocolate. I have it day in and day out without fail. My father is a cardiologist and Ironman, so he is very health-conscious, but he has eaten chocolate every night since I can remember. I think I learned the habit from him.
Do you have a healthy role model?
My parents have always been so active and look amazing for their age. Seeing them thrive the older they get makes me realize that health and wellness is truly an investment in your body. I want to be physically fit well into old age.
